More About Me

Who I am?

  • I firstly identify myself as a slow runner, marathon runner. The funny thing? I used to hate running, especially long distances, before I turned 16. That all changed after a severe leg fracture. During my recovery, running was one of the few activities my parents were happy with. At beginning, it was just light jogging, one or two kilometers to strengthen my ankle. But things quickly spiraled: 1K became 5K, then 10K, 20K, and eventually marathons. To date, I’ve participated in tens of marathons and mountain climbing competitions. “Why do I like running?” My answer echoes the sentiment of Japanese author Haruki Murakami in his book “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running”. In short, NOTHING . That’s the beauty of it.

  • I’m also a basketball enthusiast. Ironically, my leg fracture happened during a basketball game (yes, I might owe a strange thank-you to that injury 😂). The good news? I’m still playing regularly. My basketball idol is Kobe Bryant , whose “Mamba Mentality” inspires not just my game but my life. He taught me how beautiful this sport can be and how powerful a determined mindset truly is.

  • Another passion of mine is folk music. While my fingers don’t yet glide smoothly over the six strings of my acoustic guitar, I’m deeply inspired by the artistry of Bob Dylan . His lyrics, especially lines like “How many roads must a man walk down, before you call him a man?” from Blowin’ in the Wind, resonate deeply with me.

  • Oh, and I love cooking—primarily Chinese dishes. As one of my colleagues once said, “If you can cook, you can do engineering!” That philosophy sums it up perfectly.

What’s next?

  • A solo trip across all provinces in China —I’ve visited 12 so far, but there’s a long way to go.

  • See Kobe Bryant’s statue in Los Angeles —but first, I need to get that U.S. visa 😢😢😢!
